COVID-19: Gov. Ugwuanyi Directs Assurance Policies For Health Workers In Enugu State

The Enugu State governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, has approved a group life/group personal accident assurance policy for all health workers in the state.

According to a statement issued by Simon Uchenna Ortuanya, the secretary to the state government, the beneficiaries are those working for Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) Teaching Hospital, Parklane, Enugu; all doctors in the state ministry of health and all other health personnel.

Aside from the health workers, the policy is also extended to state firefighters, and the personnel of the Enugu State Emergency Management Agency and others involved in essential services.

The directive, according to the statement, takes effect from Thursday.

The presidents-general was further directed to interface with the Enugu State Multi-sectoral Rapid Response Team, through the permanent secretary of the state’s ministry of health, for the collation of information, education and communication (IEC) materials on the epidemic for use by the volunteers and town criers.

The statement added that the state government also made provisions for logistic support to the presidents- general for the various town criers for the new assignment.
