The 3 Causes Of Delay With Pastor Elisha

This week we will be looking at the three causes of delay. Our text will be taken from Luke 18: 1 -8 and I read…

(1) Then He spoke a parable to them, that men always ought to pray and not lose heart,(2) saying: “There was in a certain city a judge who did not fear God nor regard man.

(3) Now there was a widow in that city; and she came to him, saying, ‘Get justice for me from my adversary. (4)And he would not for a while; but afterward, he said within himself, ‘Though I do not fear God nor regard man,(5) yet because this widow troubles me I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.’ ”( 6) Then the Lord said, “Hear what the unjust judge said ( 7) And shall God not avenge His own elect who cry out day and night to Him, though He bears long with them? (8) I tell you that He will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?”

There are three (3) causes of delay I will like to share with us, therefore keep touch with me and you will be glad you did

Ladies and gentlemen lets get started on this subject the 3 causes of delays.

(1). Divine Delay.

It will interest you to know that most of the delays we experience in life are divinely orchestrated and God subjects us to these delays for a purpose.

(2) The purpose of the divine delay is for the purpose of testing your faith.

Delay is one of the acid test of faith. The word of God says in Hebrew 11:(6) But without faith, it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

Concerning the parable of the widow in our text who approached an unjust judge in her city who neither fear God nor had regard for man and demanded justice of him from her adversary, and we saw in the story that even though justice from her adversary was delayed for a while.

But by the reason of her persistence justice was eventually granted to her, justice was delayed but certainly not denied.

Take note, after the unjust judge had granted the widow justice from her adversary he made a very profound statement and he said “but wait a minute, if I, been an unjust judge could do these to a widow who was wearying me, just to get her off me, how much more the Just God? Shall He not avenge His own elect who cry out day and night to Him, though He bears long with them?

I tell you He will avenge them speedily. (paraphrase). Then the Lord concluded the story by saying…”Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth? very interesting question there, which means that your delays in life do not really matter to God, what really matters to Him is that your faith fails not in the moment of delay or while you go through the process of delay.

I don’t know the area of life you are experience delay right now, I pray that your faith fail not.Remember the story of Lazarus in the book (John 11:1-44) when he got so sick and his sisters Martha and Mary gave Jesus a called who was out of town on a gospel trip, that His friend Lazarus whom he love was very sick and needed His help, but while Jesus delayed in coming Lazarus passed on, it was indeed heartbreaking for the two sisters but they were never disappointed in the Lord despite all that has happened .

When Jesus eventually showed up after four days by this time Lazarus has been buried already but Jesus restored him back to life again, for the two sisters it was a heartbreaking experience which turns into a breaking news testimony and that was possible because even though the two sisters lost their only brother while the Lord delayed in showing up, they did not loss their faith in the Lord for who He is and what He’s capable of doing.

I don’t know what delay seems to be causing you or robbing you of right now, guess what? as long as your faith fails not, when the Lord eventually shows up, He will surely make it up to you. I see nothing stopping you in Jesus’ name. Say Amen somebody!

You are wired to win the battles of life and connected to the source of all powers. Therefore, as you continue to abide in His Word, every form of delay is broken now in Jesus’ name! Amen
