Obi, Atiku Lack Structure in North to Defeat Tinubu, says Ganduje

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and one-time Anambra State Governor Peter Obi lack the required grassroots structures and regional support in the North to unseat President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje declared yesterday.

Atiku and Obi are standard bearers of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in the January 16, 2027 presidential election.

Newera News gathered that the immediate past All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, Ganduje, who spoke at a public event in Kano at the weekend, described the North as the decisive factor in Nigeria’s presidential election, arguing that neither Atiku nor Obi commands the political machinery needed to secure victory in the region. He said: “The North is strategic in every presidential election in Nigeria. With due respect to our friends in the opposition, neither Peter Obi nor Atiku Abubakar can mobilise sufficient support in this region to defeat President Tinubu in 2027.”

The former Kano State governor maintained that despite ongoing realignments and coalition talks among opposition parties, both politicians lack the grassroots structures necessary to make significant electoral gains across Northern states.
