Police Arrest Siblings for Allegedly Raping 9-Year-Old in Enugu

The men of the Nigerian Police Force in Enugu State has arrested two brothers, Chima Nnamani and Michael Nnamani, for allegedly raping a nine-year-old minor in the Nkanu East Local Government Area of the state.

Newera news gathered that the Police in a statement issued by its Public Relations Officer, ASP Daniel Ndukwe said Prof. Joy Ezeilo, Founder of Women Aid Collective (WACOL), had called for the immediate prosecution of the two suspects and that investigation have already begun.

Ndukwe said, “Case-file and suspects involved in the case of alleged defilement of a nine-year-old have all been transferred to State Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Enugu, for conclusive investigation.” he said.

Ezeilo, who is also the Executive Director of WACOL, had said “On Nov. 28, 2021, that the organization received a case of defilement of a nine-year-old girl by two brothers from the same biological parents.

The nine-year-old victim who lived with the accused said the abuse started immediately after she arrived to live with them and had continued on a daily basis especially in the morning hours.

She further explained that she often bled profusely afterwards, yet no one offered her any help or treatment adding that when she reported to her Aunty, Mrs Theresa Nnamani, who is her father’s stepsister, she remained adamant because these perpetrators were her biological sons.
