The ex-Liverpool striker was captured greeting some of the current squad after the final whistle, including Trent Alexander-Arnold and Diogo Jota.
The 37-year-old was in conversation with captain Jordan Henderson, while Virgil van Dijk posed for photos with Torres’ son.
A product of the Atletico Madrid academy himself, Torres is now part of the coaching set up in their academy and he was present at the UEFA Youth League match between the two sides earlier that day.
The Reds under-19 side were beaten 2-0 by Torres’ side and they now sit behind the Spanish club in the table on goal difference.
It was a successful trip to Madrid for the senior Reds, however, who remain top of their Champions League group with nine points out of a possible nine.
Atletico makes the return trip to Anfield in a couple of weeks before Liverpool welcome Porto later in November.
The group stage will conclude with a trip to Italy to face AC Milan.
