Breaking: Ondo State Deputy Governor Dumps APC, Joins PDP

The Ondo State Deputy Governor, Agboola Ajayi, on Sunday resigned his membership of the All Progressives Congress in Apoi Ward 2, Ese Odo Local Government Area of the State.

This came some hours after he was restrained from going out of the Government House in Alagbaka, Akure, the state capital, by the state Police Commissioner, Bolaji Salami and his team.

Ajayi tendering his resignation letter at the APC secretariat in Apoi Ward 2, Ese Odo LGA, said everybody knew why he left the APC.

Shortly after, he went to the PDP secretariat in the ward where he announced his defection to the party and obtained his party card ahead of the Election.

You will recall that a drama ensued on Saturday night when the Ondo State Police Commissioner, Bolaji Salami, prevented the Deputy Governor, Agboola Ajayi, from leaving the State Government House in Akure, the state capital.

It was gathered that Salami restrained Ajayi from leaving with his official vehicle.

The development was not unconnected to the ongoing rift between the deputy governor and Governor Rotimi Akeredolu.

It was learnt that the deputy governor is planning to dump the All Progressives Congress for another party due to the worsening relationship between himself and the governor.

In a 41 seconds video that had gone viral, the CP was seen standing in front of the deputy governor, telling him he will not allow him (Ajayi) to leave the government house.

“You have defected, your letter has been brought to my office,” the CP sternly said in the video.

Ajayi then lashed back, “If I have defected, what is your own? CP, are you the chairman of APC? Are you the chairman of PDP? What is your concern if I defect?

“I have tried all constitutional and acceptable means to prevent this crisis. You are being used by the governor to deprive me of the constitutional right I am highly disappointed that a policeman of your calibre can be used like this.

“I personally paid for this vehicle. You should not have put yourself in this mess.”

Let me tell you, you cannot repeat what happened in this state in 1983 because Ondo State people will resist you and you and your emperor with everything.” he said.
