Just in: Appeal Court Gets 18 New Justices, One Dead

Chief Justice of Nigeria, Tanko Muhammad has sworn in 18 new justices for the Court of Appeal.

The oath-taking ceremony held at the Supreme Court Complex in Abuja, the nation’s capital.

Those sworn-in include 2 female justices, namely Olasunbo Goodluck and Bukola Banjoko.

Nasarawa State loses former commissioner and APC chieftain

A former Commissioner for Culture and Tourism in Nasarawa State under Governor Tanko Al-Makura and a chieftain of the APC, Solomon Ihuman, is dead.

Confirming the death to our correspondence, his first son, Alphonsus Ihuman said the former commissioner died around 3 am at his residence on Monday.

Ihuman said his father has battled prostate cancer for more than 10 years, before his death at the age of 74 years.

The late Solomon Ihuman also served as Director of Personnel Management in old Plateau State and Permanent Secretary in the State Ministry of Water Resources during the administration of Governor Abdullahi Adamu.

Ihuman was a major political rallying point for the minority Tiv population in Nasarawa State and instrumental to the people voting in successive administrations and Governors in the state since 1999.

He remained a strong pillar of peace not only in Nasarawa State but the entire Tiv nation.
