Former Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers ‘Preferred Candidate’ To Replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is set to be sacked as Manchester United manager following the dismal performance by the team lately.

Former Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is Manchester United’s preferred candidate to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

That is according to the Manchester Evening News, who are also tonight reporting that United are set to sack Solskjaer.

It is claimed that United’s executives have decided they must act now in the wake of the humiliating defeat to Watford on Saturday afternoon.

The report by the MEN claims that United figures are impressed by Erik Ten Hag and Luis Enrique, but Rodgers has provisionally been identified as the most suitable successor to Solskjaer.

The current Leicester City boss has won plenty of plaudits for his work at the King Power, guiding the club to two 5th places and lifting the FA Cup for the first time in the club’s history.

Rodgers is currently under contract at Leicester until June 2023 and United would have to agree on a fee with the Foxes to release the former Liverpool boss from his contract.

Rodgers had previously been linked as a potential successor to Solskjaer but slammed the speculation in his pre-match press conference on Thursday.
