Super Eagles Fly Past Lone Star of Liberia 2- 0 win in Qatar 2022 Qualifier

Nigeria’s Super Eagles, are leading group C of the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers after they flew past the Lone Star of Liberia in a 2 nil win in their first game of the campaign.

Two goals in the first half of the game by Leicester City’s Forward, Kelechi Iheanacho, was all the Gernot Rohr led team needed to do the job at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos.

Iheanacho drew the first blood in the 22nd minute. His second effort came in the 44th minute after a loose header from Alex Iwobi met him and he slotted home the decider.

The Eagles will head to Praia, the Cape Verdean capital tomorrow for their second game of the 2nd round qualifier on September 7, for the Mundial in Qatar next year.

Earlier on Wednesday, Central Africa Republic CAR was held to a one-all draw at home by the Cape Verde National team also known as the Blue Sharks.

The Lone Star who are rooted at the bottom of the group will keep a date on Tuesday at home, against the CAR who are third on the log behind the Blue Sharks in second place.
