Coronavirus Confirmed Cases in Maryland Surpasses 500K
Coronavirus confirmed cases in Maryland, a state in America surpasses 500,000 during the pandemic, with 1,387 cases newly reported on Friday.
Newera News gathered that the state has recorded a total of 501,035 COVID-19 cases to date, while 3,967,738 Marylanders have tested negative for coronavirus.
Maryland’s caseload has grown by 8,488 confirmed cases since last Friday, Aug. 27.
As of Friday morning, Talbot County is the only Maryland jurisdiction that is experiencing substantial levels of coronavirus transmission. The state’s remaining 23 jurisdictions are all experiencing high COVID transmission levels, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported.
The CDC recommends that all people, regardless of vaccination status, wear a face mask indoors in areas of the country with substantial or high levels of coronavirus transmission.
A total of 9,827 Marylanders are confirmed to have died from COVID-19, including 79 people whose coronavirus-related deaths were reported since Aug. 27.
There are currently 812 Marylanders hospitalized due to coronavirus, including 631 in acute care and 181 in intensive care.
This time last week, there were 711 Marylanders hospitalized with COVID-19.
After Maryland’s seven-day average positivity rate rose to 5.05% on Monday, it has since decreased to 4.89% on Friday.
As of Friday, nearly 62% of Marylanders who are eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine are fully vaccinated, while a little over 68% of the eligible population have received at least one dose of a coronavirus vaccine.
Many residents in Maryland, age 18 or older, about 81% have received at least one dose of the vaccine.
