Insecurity: 4 Killed, 300 Houses Razed in Bassa LGA, Others in Plateau State
Two Plateau villages of Zanwra and Kpatenvie in Jebbu-Miango, Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State have been reportedly attacked.
The Newera News gathered that the fresh attack took place on Saturday 31st July. which left many injured with several farmlands looted and destroyed.
Our correspondent revealed that 4 people were allegedly killed dead, and several villages were sacked with more than 301 houses razed down.
While confirming the development to ait. live, the Plateau State Police Command through its spokesperson ASP Gabriel Ubah said the Command had received a report that there was a conflict between gunmen suspected to be Fulani Militia and youth from Irigwe at Jebbu Miango, Bassa LGA of Plateau State.
“Upon receipt of the report, the tactical team of the command was immediately deployed to the scene to tighten the security of the area and to restore peace”.
He said the Commissioner of Police, CP Edward Egbuka, with other senior Officers of the Command visited the scene and has ordered a discreet investigation to fish out the perpetrators of the dastardly act.
You will recall that Suspected Fulani Herdsmen destroyed over 20 farmlands with grown crops in the Plateau community.
The destroyed farmlands with different grown crops were destroyed in Iregwi Chiefdom, Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The latest attacks on farmlands which took place on Monday, July 26, was carried out in Nchetahu village, Kpatenvie Miango District, Irigwe Chiefdom, Bassa Local Government area.
When contacted, the Plateau State Police Command through its Spokesperson ASP Gabriel Ubah, denied knowledge of the said destruction of farmlands, however, a community leader Davidson Malison, who confirmed the development to newsmen, accused suspected Fulani herdsmen for the latest attacks on farmlands in their community.
One of the victims, an elderly woman who was seen crying in her destroyed farmland called on the Government’s intervention urgently.
