Kogi Board Chairman Killed, LG Boss Abducted In Kwara State-Police

The Police in Kogi State has confirmed the murder of the Chairman of the State Pension Board, Solomon Akeweje by yet to be identified gunmen.

During the gunfire, the Chairman of Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State, Pius Kolawole who was travelling in the same vehicle with the Pension Commissioner was also abducted and his whereabouts is unknown. His abductors are yet to make any contact with his family.

Spokesman of the Kogi State Police Command, DSP William Aya, who confirmed the incident to our reporter in Lokoja, said the incident occurred in Eruku in Kwara State, a border town between Kwara and Kogi States.

According to Aya, both Akeweje and Kolawole were travelling back to Egbe from Kwara State when they were attacked by yet-to-be-identified gunmen leaving the Pension Board Chairman dead.

The driver of the vehicle however survived the attack while the corpse of Akeweje has been deposited at the morgue of the ECWA Hospital, Egbe.

Kogi State Security Adviser, Commander Jerry Omodara said security in Kogi State in contact with the police authorities in Kwara State where the incident happened sharing intelligence on how the perpetrators can be arrested.
