Edo State civil servants to resume work Monday after Covid-19 lockdown

Edo State Government has directed civil servants on grade level 1 to 10 to resume work in their respective Ministries, Departments and Agencies, MDAs, effective Monday, September 21, 2020.

In a statement signed by the Head of Service, through the Permanent Secretary, P. E. Aziegbemhin, Permanent Secretaries and Heads of Extra-Ministerial Departments are charged to ensure that there is strict compliance to Covid-19 protocols and regulations in their respective work places.

The statement reads: “Furtherance to Circular No. HOS 35/Vol.IV/48 dated 24th March 2020 which directed officers below Grade 12 (excluding those on essential services) in the state public service to work from home following the spread of COVID-19 pandemic in the state, Mr. Governor has directed all officers on Grade 01-10 to resume work in their respective Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) with effect from Monday 21st September 2020.

“Consequently, Permanent Secretaries and Heads of Extra-Ministerial Departments are, by this circular, requested to ensure that there is strict compliance to COVID-19 Government protocols and regulations in their respective workplaces.”

The Head of Service stated that the relevant protocols and regulations include frequent washing of hands with soap under running water; use of alcohol-based sanitisers; observance of social distancing and wearing of facemasks.

The Covid-19 Response Team is to issue guidelines for the resumption of all workers who have, hitherto, been working from home. These guidelines will be made available shortly.
