BREAKING: Buhari Meets Service Chiefs, May Sack Errant Officers
The Nigeria President Muhammadu Buhari met with the service Chiefs in a closed-door at the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa, Abuja today Tuesday 18, 2020.
Newera Newes gathered that the Service Chiefs, led by the Chief of Defence Staff, General Gabriel Olonisakin arrived at the seat of power at 08:50 GMT and proceeded straight to the Council Chambers.
Shortly, President Buhari joined the meeting at 09:00 GMT and immediately went into a closed session.
Meanwhile, the Service Chiefs are expected to brief State House Correspondents at the end of the meeting.
You will recall that in the last few months, Nigeria has witnessed a surge in criminal activities of armed bandits, Fulani herdsmen, especially in the North-western part of the country.
The meeting is expected to discuss the increased challenges with regards to the security apparatus in the country.
It should also be noted that the situation had led to protests in some of the states and among the northern elite, which had led to calls on the President to give answers to the challenges.
According to reports available to defence headquarters, some members of the force have been fingered and await disciplinary action.
