Ufuma Community In Orumba North Reads Riot Act To Herdsmen

The Ufuma community in Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra State has warned Fulani herdsmen to desist from the activities leading to farms destruction and damage to crops in the community.

The President General of Ufuma Development Union (UDU), Sir Basil Onwunze gave the warning on Monday in an interview with Newsmen, saying the community was not happy with continued destruction of farms and crops by the Fulani herdsmen.

He said that herdsmen were allowed constitutionally to move about freely through the community like every other Nigerian, but regretted that their cattle destroyed crops and farms on their farmlands.

He warned the herdsmen to adhere strictly to the agreement reached with the Anambra State government to desist from the destruction of farms and economic plants in the area.

However, he refuted an allegation making the rounds that a female farmer in the community was forced by herdsmen to drink insecticide and subsequently died, saying the claim was untrue and warned those peddling such rumour to desist as it is capable of causing disaffection among the people.
