You Can’t Jail Generator Users Until Power Is Made Available To All Nigerians, Fani-Kayode Warns FG
The former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, has condemned the Senator representing Niger South, Muhammad Bima in a very strong term, for sponsoring a bill seeking to ban the importation of generators and subsequently jail users in Nigeria.
Kayode described Bima as being insensitive for seeking to jail those who sell and import generators in Nigeria.
Senator Bima had introduced the bill and it scaled through first reading on the floor of the senate, on Wednesday.
The Generating Set Prohibition/Ban Bill, 2020, also seeks to curtail the menace of environmental pollution and to facilitate the urgent development of the power sector.
However, the vocal Senator said Bima should be tied and dropped in the darkest part of the Atlantic ocean.
Mr. Fani-Kayode in a tweet, wrote: “The Senator that sponsored the Bill to ban generators in Nigeria & send those that sell or use them to jail must be insane”
“He ought to be tied up, placed in a straight jacket, put in a strong sack filled with weights and dropped in the deepest & darkest part of the Atlantic ocean.”
Femi Fani-Kayode as he is fondly called was the Special Assistant (Public Affairs) to President Olusegun Obasanjo from July 2003 until June 2006. He was appointed the Minister of Culture and Tourism of the Federal Republic of Nigeria from 22 June to 7 November 2006 and as the Minister of Aviation from 7 November 2006 to 29 May 2007.
