Former Emir Sanusi Congratulates His Successor, Says He Will Not Go To Court
The dethroned Emir of Kano Muhammad Sanusi has congratulated his successor, Aminu Ado Bayero, on his ascension to the throne.
Sanusi also said he would not challenge his dethronement in court, a position that negated the claim by a team of lawyers that he (Sanusi) had instructed them to sue the Kano State government.
Alhaji Abubakar Ahmed Sabo, the traditional ruler of Loko, a village in Nasarawa State, where the sacked monarch spent his first night in banishment, made this known on Wednesday.
“In fact, he sent text message congratulating the new emir and the new emir replied to him.”
Asked if he observed any bad feeling in the deposed Emir, the Loko traditional ruler replied: ”He (Sanusi) was not disturbed at all. He slept very well. He accepted his destiny. Emir Sanusi does not have any regret. He said he did not commit any offense.”
Abubakar, who gave further insight into the reasons the deposed Emir was relocated from Loko to Awe, said that he (Sanusi) advised traditional rulers to be careful in their relationship with politicians.
His words: “Emir (Sanusi) is too big for this place. What I mean is that Emir Sanusi is a high ranking personality. He is supposed to be under an air conditioner, but we don’t have electricity to give him that.
