Police Clash With Shiites Protesters Again in Abuja

Some members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN) also known as Shiites dared government as they attacked some police officers trying to stop them from gaining entrance into the Federal Secretariat Abuja on Monday.

The incident occurred when the police fired gunshots and tear gas into the air to disperse the protesters.

However, protesters attacked a police officer and it sparked panic as anxious workers, commuters and motorists fled the area in fear of being attacked.

It would be recalled that they stormed the National Assembly complex two weeks ago during which they shot two policemen and damaged many vehicles and properties.

The spokesman of Islamic Movement of Nigeria, Abdullahi Musa,  vowed to continue the protest on Monday despite the development. The Police and other law enforcement agents have the area under control. Commuters and the general public are advised to be vigilant as the tension in the area is yet to be doused.
